Donate your car, truck, RV, boat or other vehicle to the Les Turner ALS Foundation. The Foundation accepts donations of vehicles in any condition that are located in the Chicago metropolitan area. We take care of the arrangements and towing, saving you the hassle of selling your vehicle, while you take advantage of the tax deduction!
The IRS requires
the Les Turner ALS Foundation to maintain a comprehensive record
of your vehicle donation including your social security number.
If you are claiming more than $500 for your vehicle, the IRS will
allow you to claim the gross proceeds from the Les Turner ALS Foundation's
sale of your vehicle (gross proceeds exclude towing expenses or
other fees). Vehicle age, operability, impending repairs, damage,
mileage are factors that affect the sale price of your vehicle and
consequently the amount you can claim as a deduction. If you are
claiming up to $500, the IRS will allow you to arrive at that figure
on your own.
To make a vehicle
donation, complete our information
form
and return it to the Foundation office with a copy of the title
(front only). North Shore Towing (847-864-2828), the Foundation's
contracted vehicle donation program agent, will contact you to arrange
a time and place to pick up the donated vehicle. Please remove license
plates and all personal items from the vehicle. Sign the back of
the title and give it to the driver at the time of pick up. The
title assignment should be to North Shore Towing.
The Les Turner
ALS Foundation will mail a donor acknowledgment within 30 days of
the sale of your vehicle stating the amount of the gross proceeds.
