About Our Services

The Les Turner ALS Foundation has been providing healthcare for people with ALS (PALS) since 1986 when the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Research and Patient Center at Northwestern Medicinewas opened on the campus in Chicago, Illinois.

The current multidisciplinary staff includes five neurologists, two pulmonologists, three nurses, an occupational therapist, speech pathologist, dietician, genetic counselor, respiratory therapist, drug study research coordinator and medical assistant.  The Clinic staff is complemented by the Les Turner ALS Foundation’s Home and Community Services Team, comprised of six Patient and Family Advocates (four Nurses and two Social Workers)

Lisa Wolfe, MD, a Pulmonary, Sleep and Critical Care Specialist, gave a presentation on respiratory care at the ALS/MND Nursing Mini-Symposium on December 10, 2010 in Orlando. Dr. Wolfe is an Assistant Professor with the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care at Northwestern Medicine, and a Pulmonary Consultant for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic.

Our ALS Resource Guide is a downloadable manual that provides information and resources for ALS patients, family members, caregivers and health professionals. It is assembled by the staff of the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at Northwestern in Chicago and members of the Home and Community Services Team.
